Bishop Joel W. Haye
About Bishop Joel W. Haye
Bishop Haye became a Christian in 1979, after an invitation from Paulene, to attend a week of special meetings at the NTCG Leicester Church. Joel and Paulene soon married in 1980.
Joel worked in most of the departments of the Church (Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School teacher, Evangelism Director, Assistant District Youth and Christian Education Director, Youth Choir Director, and Youth Club leader). These posts were held in addition to his family commitments and community activism.
He regularly preached in his local Church and was a sought after preacher/teacher who ministered in conventions and seminars.
In 1999 Joel and Paulene planted New Testament Church of God Agape. Agape’s main attraction was to university students. Joel continues to influence many ex students who have now settled into family life in various parts of the country and some are also abroad. Agape and the main (parent) congregation at Melbourne Road merged in November 2011, where Joel became the Senior Pastor and District Overseer of the Leicester District comprising of Leicester, Northampton, Peterborough and Wellingborough. Prior to his promotion there were various prophetic words spoken over him that God was bringing him deeper into his movement and that God had called him to be a Leader of Leaders.
Joel became a Licensed Minister in 2001 and in 2014 he became an Ordained Bishop. Joel has also worked as a Child Protection Social Worker for 19 years for the Local Authority.
Joel has an apostolic calling on his life. He has a strong passion to see leaders being raised up and equipped to function in their calling. He believes that the theme of his life is to see “Unity In the body of Christ”, according to Ephesians 4: 1- 13. He is a strong believer in the priesthood of all believers and works to empower men and women to work both in the Church (priests) and in the market place (Kings). He has been working with local Churches in the city to see unity initiatives developed across different streams and cultures in the city. His aim is to see the fivefold ministry established, and sees this as the shape of Church ministry in the 21st century.
Joel and Paulene have been married for 34 years. The couple state that their greatest achievement to date has been the birth of their three children. Kehturah, Andrew and Jonathan.
The family grew in 2004 when Kehturah married her husband also named Andrew, they have two sons, Judah and Noah. In 2014 Andrew married Vanessa.
